Giving your garden tomatoes an early start

I look forward to garden-fresh tomatoes so I like to pick them as soon as possible. I check the varieties for the maturity date, looking for the shortest growth time possible.

Filling milk jugs with water and placed them as a wall around young plants to protect them from frost can also give you a jump on the growing season.  When it’s past the danger of frost, I use the water in the jugs to water the plants and recycle the jugs.

I found this video for an idea to get tomatoes planted in the garden earlier. I’m not sure if I will try it. What do you think?
